Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 14, 2017 (RSCNPF):The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police continues to demonstrate its resolve to ensuring Citizen Safety in St. Kitts and Nevis and conducted a number Operations over the last weekend on both islands. 

Head of the Operations Directorate, ACP Terrance James said, “for the last few weeks we have increased the Operational Tempo and this has resulted in more Officers being visible in our communities.”  ACP James added, “with this increased tempo, we have seen an encouraging decline in various types of incidents”

ACP James noted that the Police Service is conducting more Vehicle Check Points,  Stop and Searches and searches of abandoned properties and lots.  He said, “all of these operations are geared to removing illegal firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes.”

The Operations Head said, “just to give an example,  this weekend (Mar 10-13) we conducted almost over fifty (50) Vehicle Check Points and Stop and Searches.  We also executed about a number of  Search Warrants.” ACP James added, “we netted some small amounts of marijuana, were able to remove a number of illegal tints, and address and issue citations for a several violations of the Traffic Regulations.”

ACP James highlighted that the Operations are being supported by the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force and he said, the Police Service appreciates their continued cooperation.   He also  conveyed appreciation to the general public for the necessary inconvenience of being pulled over. He said, “it is being done in efforts to ensure citizen safety,” and noted these operations will continue.
