Persons employed to the BVI Financial Services Commission (FSC) expressed shock as they showed up at work still grappling with the bad news that one of their co-workers, Dwayne Rawlins, died while on the job yesterday, November 3.
Persons close to the deceased native of Nevis stated that he was having coughing, breathing and chest issues for a few days leading up to his death.
“It was really bothering him,” said one woman.
Members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force were busy at the FSC building in Pasea Estate conducting investigations last night, but they are yet to state what may have led to the death.
There were no obvious signs of foul play, highly placed sources have told BVI News Online.
Other persons who showed up at the scene before the corpse was removed last night included Managing Director of the FSC Robert Mathavious and Junior Minister of Trade Marlon Penn.
Rawlins, who resided at Fat Hogs Bay on Tortola, worked as a messenger at the FSC for about 12 years.
“He was very jovial when I last saw him yesterday,” a co-worker told BVI News Online.
Reports are that, shortly after sunset, a female cleaner stumbled upon Rawlins lying motionlessly on the second floor of the FSC building.
He was on the floor of an office.
The matter was eventually reported to law enforcers.
