TVET Enhancement Project Announces Intention to Build New Technical Wing at Gingerland Secondary

(EMU) – St. Kitts, October 30, 2019: Kertney L. Thompson, Ph.D, Chief Executive officer of the St.Kitts-Nevis TVET Secretariat and Project Officer of the TVET Enhancement Project has announced that by 2020 things should be in place towards starting construction on a number of civil works projects beginning with the new Technical Wing of the Gingerland Secondary School in Nevis.

Dr. Thompson revealed that Invitations to bid for the construction of the Technical wing will be in papers print and electronic during the first week of November this year.

According to Dr. Thompson, The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has received financing from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in an amount equivalent to USD eight million (USD 8,000,000.00) towards the cost of the TVET Enhancement Project and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this financing to eligible payments under this contract.

Dr. Thompson stated further that the TVET Project which is being implemented by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis through its Ministry of Education has contracted Consultants who are assisting the TVET Project Coordinating Unit. As such, the Consultants have prepared designs and contract documentation and will assist in tender administration and evaluation and supervise project activities.

Dr. Thompson said this is another positive step in the delivery of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in St. Kitts and Nevis. He stated that the Ministry is fully committed to empowering all stakeholders in the TVET enhancement process towards the embracing change in our understanding of student success.
