BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, 11th July 2026 – In light of the recent undated press release from the St. Kitts Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) captioned “SKNFA MEETS NEWTON GROUND FC TO SUPPORT CLUB’S REBUILDING EFFORTS”. The Newton Ground Football Club emphatically denies meeting with the SKNFA on 9th July 2026 as reported.
The club received no correspondence(s) to attend a meeting as mentioned above. In fact the SKNFA has ceased all communication with the Newton Ground Football Club since 2024 except in two instances (i) On 11 January 2025 literally hours before Extra Ordinary Elective Congress stating the club is not a member of the SKNFA, to disenfranchise the club which was procedurally improper. (ii) On 23 January 2025 inviting the club to discuss participating in Division 2 League that doesn’t exist and unconstitutional.

The SKNFA press release was prompted by a pre-action letter the SKNFA received from the Newton Ground FC legal representative dated 8 July 2026. The letter implored the SKNFA to allow the club to register for the upcoming 2026/27 Division 1 League season. Also, to cease and desist from infringing upon the rights of the club guaranteed by Article 15 of the SKNFA statues. Failure to comply with the demands within 14 days will result in legal proceedings being commenced against the SKNFA without further notice.
A brief backdrop is that the SKNFA council unlawfully removed the Newton Ground FC and four other clubs ahead of its January 2025 Extra Ordinary Elective Congress to gain an unfair advantage and regain power, and it continues its refusal to fixture the club since then. The Newton Ground FC maintains it is still a legal member of the SKNFA membership. Only the Congress has the power to expel a member club from the SKNFA membership with no such proceeding engaged.

The Newton Ground FC will not be deterred by the SKNFA’s recent false and salacious comments of a meeting with the Newton Ground FC. Despite the constant undermining and injustices meted out to the club, we will remain steadfast and united in our efforts to participate in the upcoming Division 1 League Season.
