Basseterre, St. Kitts – The ganja theft earlier this week, (Tuesday 9th May) is likely to create further lack of confidence and embarrassment for the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.
A container which was housed in the Fire and Rescue compound was broken into on Tuesday in the Ponds Pasture area in Basseterre.
The confiscated marijuana was uprooted from various locations across St. Kitts.
According to reports pieces of the substance lined the streets in the wee hours of the morning.
Such an incident raises numerous questions:
– Why is a container with seized evidence stored on a compound?
– Who was responsible for the compound?
-Does the police have control of the compound?
-Who sanctioned such a move?
-Was any security in place to monitor said container?
The disappearance comes on the heels of increased criminal activity in St. Kitts with the unearthing of numerous firearms been seized, shooting incidents and other misdemeanors.
In recent times SKN have witnessed several Police Officers being arrested and charged for various criminal acts. The public’s confidence is at an all time low towards the security forces and this latest development certainly makes matters even worst.
An investigation has been launched into the disappearance of the marijuana.
While initial inquiries into this matter weren’t confirmed by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force public relations unit, the top cop, Commissioner Queeley confirmed the incident according to a news article posted by SKNVIBES.
