Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 20, 2020 (RSCNPF): Two Sergeants, who were lauded for their work ethic and dedication on the job, officially joined the core of Gazetted Officers following their promotion to the rank of Acting Inspector.
At a brief ceremony held in the Commissioner’s Office at Police Headquarters today (May 20), Sergeants Jasper Carty and Carlene Phipps were given their letters indicating their promotions would take effect as of February 15, 2020.
Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy congratulated the Acting Inspectors and encouraged them to keep up the hard work.
“I want to take this opportunity to say congratulations to both of you for going the next step of being an Inspector. You have now become a Gazetted Officer…on behalf of the High Command, I want to commend you for your great work. A lot of people don’t realise that a lot of our success comes from leadership, because you go out with your staff and you lead from in front and not from behind,” said Commissioner Brandy.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Andre Mitchell also extended his congratulations and wished the Officers well in discharging their duties.
ACP Adolph Adams implored the Officers to not rest on their laurels in their new position, but to maintain their hard work on the ground.
“I think the promotion is timely…I think that we have captured two persons who are putting out some real good work and I would want to feel that now that they are in the Gazetted Officer core that we will be seeing the same results from them. Even at the Commissioner’s level, during the pandemic, the Commissioner was on the ground and if the Commissioner could go on the ground and go in the nook and the cranny and the trenches, I think all of us should be willing and able to follow the lead,” added ACP Adams.
Force Personnel Officer, Clifford Govia, also registered his sentiments with the newly promoted Acting Inspectors and left them with a word of scripture.
“I was reading Job this morning and I will end there. It speaks about ‘I will die with my integrity’ in Job 27:5 and I hope that that is your marching order…we are looking for you to lead us into a new era. Once again I want to express my gratitude to you for your service and for the contribution you have made and will make to the enhancement of our organization and our society in general,” he said.
