Minister of Tourism The Hon. Lindsay Grant said the air service expansion by Air Canada was unprecedented, and a testament to the strategy of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority to build-out of airlift in the destination’s primary source markets.
“Air Canada’s twice a weekly service to St. Kitts marks yet another historic first for St. Kitts,” Minister Grant said “I could not be more pleased to welcome this additional flying, which will further open and enhance the very important and affluent Canada market.”
Chief Executive Officer of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Racquel Brown, said she was delighted to welcome the additional Tuesday air service from Air Canada.
“With the 2018–2019 extension of service to St. Kitts to six months of the year for winter period and the upgrading of the majority of those flights from a 136-seat Airbus A-319 to a 200-seat Airbus A-321 aircraft, Air Canada’s addition of mid-week flying from Toronto represents a significant opportunity,” CEO Brown said. “It allows more flexibility in travelers’ length of stay and it provides one more means to help us to continue the strong arrivals growth from Canada that we are achieving through targeted marketing to the affluent traveler in the golf and lifestyle niche markets. Further, it positions us well for future capacity growth.”
St. Kitts’ airlift strategy consists of continuing to nurture relationships with the airlines to systematically build out air bridges to/from identified target gateways to grow service in a sustainable manner that will support new and existing hotel developments as well as all local tourism stakeholders while making the island increasingly easy and affordable for air travelers to reach.
