SKN PULSE – On Sunday 31st Kittitians and Nevisians we’re  sent into shock as news quickly circulated about the passing of Auckland Hector, the veteran West Indies adminstrator.

The 72-year-old Kittitian, passed away on Sunday in St. Kitts, just missing the start of 2018. Cricket West Indies (CWI) organisation has sent out a release voicing sadness at the passing of the former Leeward Islands cricketer.

Hector served in administration for almost 40 years and was a Director of the parent body, now CWI; Leeward Islands Cricket Board President and St Kitts Cricket Association President.

The former cricketer made his first-class playing debut at age 19 for the Leeward Islands as a wicket-keeper. He played against a team from Australia before going on to play for the Combined Islands in the 1965 Shell Shield season.

Hector’s highest first-class score was 58 not out and was part of a 94-run ninth wicket partnership for the Combined Islands in 1969. He alternated between being a specialist batsman and a wicket-keeper until his retirement in 1975.

We extend condolences to his family and friends.
