BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 2, 2017 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris met with the new Board of Directors of ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), which has been tasked with revitalizing the state-owned radio and television station with fresh ideas.
Prime Minister Harris was supported in that meeting, held at Government Headquarters on Thursday (August 31), by Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister responsible for Information, Mr. Andrew Skerritt.
The new ZBC Board of Directors is being chaired by Mr. Lester Hanley, who is also responsible for Operations and Marketing. Ms. Valencia Grant is serving as Deputy Chairperson responsible for Corporate Relations, News and Government Affairs. The other directors are Ms. Elizabeth Tempro (Secretary to the Board), Mr. Gary Moving (Finance), Mr. Clifford Govia (Human Resource), Mr. Leroy Willet (Production) and Ms. Angola Mgonela (Ecclesiastical Affairs and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission).
During the meeting, Prime Minister Harris told the board members that ZIZ has been a very important part of the national fabric and charged them with infusing new and innovative ideas into the operations of the radio and television station in order to keep ZIZ in the homes of citizens and residents at home and abroad.
Matters discussed included improving the financial performance of the corporation and improved programming that will appeal to the different demographics and bring about wider listenership and viewership.
Dr. Harris said, “We want ZIZ to offer the best possible programming that reflects the national community of St. Kitts and Nevis.”
Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris assured the board members of his continued support for the success and development of the radio and television station.
