Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 26, 2018 – The St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank (SKNANB) was plunged into darkness during the course of Thursday morning and tellers and other officers were reportedly operating by the light on their cell phones.

It was not immediately clear whether it was due to a loss of electricity from SKELEC and what caused the failure of the standby generator to kick in to provide the usual continuation of service to customers.

Earlier this week SKELEC announced power interruptions for Thursday but they were not expected to affect the main branch and company headquarters in the Sir Edmund Lawrence Building on the corner of Central and West Square Streets.

SKELEC had informed that Thursday’s interruption would affect the areas of College Street, Church Street and NCI.
