KINGSTON, Jamaica, Mar 30 2017 – Justice Minister Delroy Chuck has signed the order for eight Jamaicans, including a police Constable, to be extradited to the United States on lottery scamming related charges.
On March 8, Parish Judge Vaughn Smith ordered the extradition of Constable Jason Jahalal along with Alrick McLeod, O’Neil Brown, Xanu Morgan, Dario Palmer, Kazrae Grey, Kimberly Hudson and Dahlia Hunter.
They are wanted in the state of North Dakota for their alleged involvement in a lottery scam scheme.
Chuck said that he signed the extradition orders yesterday afternoon.
He says it’s now for the US authorities to work out with the correctional services when the individuals will be taken to the US.
Prosecutors in North Dakota say the eight have each been charged with one count of conspiracy and attempting to commit wire fraud; 48 counts of wire fraud; 15 counts of mail fraud and one count of money laundering as part of a 66-count indictment.
American authorities allege that the eight were part of a criminal organisation led by another Jamaican man, Lavrick Willocks, that used an advance fee or lottery scam scheme to defraud 80 elderly victims of approximately US$5.6 million.
