Early morning raid leads to drug and gun bust on Nevis

Charlestown, Nevis – The collaborative efforts of The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts and Nevis Defense Force discovered two illegal firearms while on patrol in Rawlins, Gingerland yesterday, Thursday 20 April.

Early yesterday morning, (Thursday 20) a squad comprising of soldiers and police conducted operations in Rawlins, Gingerland. 

As a result of the operations, guns, drugs and ammunition were seized. The list of items seized are as follows: -1 x Smith and Wesson revolver, -1 x 357 Magnum  with 10 rounds, -1x Tech 9 machine pistol with an extended magazine and 21 9mm rds, -19 7.62mm rds of ammo, -A transparent bag containing a vegetable substance believed to be cannabis and a vendetta mask.

According to a release from the Police Public Press Relations Unit, the illegal firearms and the other items were found in close proximity to a group of six (6) persons who were searched by the Police. 
All six persons are still in Police custody as the investigation continues.

The release further states that the firearms will undergo Forensic Testing to determine their use in any unsolved gun related incidents.

The find takes the number of firearms seized in Nevis to three for the year so far and the total number seized in the Federation to 11.
