Antiguan born pace bowler, Alzarri Joseph, has been appointed captain of the Leeward Islands Hurricanes team for the CG United Super50 Tournament, which will be played in Trinidad from 17 October to 11 November.
The Leeward Islands Cricket Board (LICB) announced on Sunday that Joseph will take over the captaincy from wicket/keeper batsman Jahmar Hamilton.
Joseph has played 30 Tests, 63 ODIs and 16 T20Is for the West Indies.
He has also played 64 first-class matches, 77 List A, and 98 T20 matches during his professional career.
The Leeward Islands squad includes three newcomers, wicketkeeper-batsman Jewel Andrew (Antigua and Barbuda), Justin Greaves (Barbados), and Oshane Thomas (Jamaica).
Andrew, 16, is a West Indies U19 player who has played a youth Test and two youth ODIs against Sri Lanka in September 2023.
He scored an half century against Sri Lanka, (80) in the 3rd Youth ODI on 1 September in Dambullah, which the hosts won by 51 runs to seal a 2-1 series win.
Graves, 29, hails from Barbados and was part of the WI Emerging Players team that beat the Leeward Islands in the 2019 Super50 Final.
He has played three ODIs, 37 first-class matches, 38 List A games, and 14 T20s.
Thomas, 26, has represented the West Indies in 20 ODIs and 20 T20Is. He has a total of 41 List A matches to his credit.
