Basseterre, (SKN PULSE) – From a field of seven confident young teens, Dolicia Barry stood tall among the other participants on Monday Night, (December 26) as she was crowned Miss National Carnival Talented Teen 2016-2017 in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
The teens graced the stage in Ambassadorial Speech, Ambassadorial Wear, Talent, Evening Wear and Interview Segments.
At the end of the night Verchilds High School thwarted Basseterre High School plans to three peat. Fifteen year old Dolicia Barry placed her print on the crown when she graced the stage in her Ambassadorial Wear.
The newly crowned Queen also copped the best Ambassadorial Speech, Best Ambassadorial Wear, Best Interview and Most Popular Contestant Online.
Sarai Hutchinson of the Cayon High School amassed a total of 827 points and placed 1st runner up. Hutchinson also copped awards for Best Formal Teenage Evening Wear and Miss Photogenic. Her school also won the award for Most Spirited School.
Closely behind Sarai was Zafi Alder of the Charles E. Mills Secondary School, (CEMSS) who placed 2nd runner up after scoring 822.5 points. Alder won the Best Performing Talent Award.
Dahneira Hodge who respresented the Washington Archibald High School placed 3rd runner up with 780 points.
While the Basseterre High School wasn’t fortunate enough to secure a place in the top four, Bhoojraj was able to walk away with the Miss Amity Award and the Chairperson’s Award. Miss Jennifer Belle of the Basseterre High School won the Chaperone’s Award.
