Soca veteran Iwer George was crowned the new king of Power Soca last night at the International Soca Monarch Competition held in Trinidad and Tobago.
Stage Gone Bad won the top prize at Soca monarch 2020 while College Boy Jessie dethroned Swappi to be crowned the new Groovy Soca Monarch, with his song Happy Song. Crowd favourite Ding Dong, with his tune, Outside came in third.
The show, which was brought live via Facebook had several stoppages. Nevertheless, the performers put forth their best.
Top performer, Lyrikal raised the standard. He placed second with his song Rukshun.
International Soca artiste, Olatunji Yearwood, also captured the crowd’s love with his song Thankful. He took third prize.
