The Cabinet Secretariat wishes to advise the public on arrangements now in place to ensure the continued, seamless functioning of Government during the medical absence of the Prime Minister. the Honourable Dr. Terrance M. Drew.
As previously communicated, Prime Minister Drew is currently receiving specialised medical observation and care abroad, out of an abundance of caution and on the advice of his treating physicians. He remains in stable condition, and the Governmen1 is heartened by the continued messages of support and prayer from citizens, residents, and regional and international partners.

In keeping with the constitutional order of succession and to ensure the uninterruptec conduct of the nation’s affairs, the following arrangements are now in effect:
The Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister, will serve as Acting Prime Minister. In this capacity, he will assume responsibility for the Ministries of Finance, Health, and Human Resource Management and Social Security, in addition to his existing duties.

The Honourable Garth Wilkin will assume responsibility for National Security Citizenship and Immigration.
These measures are designed to ensure that every arm of Government continues to function without disruption, and that the essential services on which the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis rely remain fully operational.
The Federal Cabinet and the wider Government reaffirm their solidarity and resolve during this period and continue to hold Prime Minister Drew and his family close in thought and prayer, in hopeful anticipation of his full and speedy recovery.
