Thirteen athletes from Nevis and St. Kitts departed the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on March 06 to participate in the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games.
The athletes are accompanied by coaches and other officials. The team will be participating in Bocce, Triathlon, Cycling and Open Water Swim.
St. Kitts and Nevis’ trip was made possible by various donors, which includes, The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), Digicel, Rams Trading LTD as well other corporate partners.

At the last World Games held in Los Angeles, USA, in 2015, the team won twenty-three (23) medals which included thirteen (13) gold.
The 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games is a multi-sport event for athletes with intellectual disabilities in the tradition of the Special Olympics movement. It will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates from March 14–21, 2019.
