Monroe Mustangs Head Coach, Shirvon Greene continues to add to his trophy collection. Coach Greene was recently named the Atlantic Region Men’s Head Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Greene who was named Head Coach in July of last year collected his first award as Head Coach over the weekend. In his previous post as the Assistant Coach of the Year, Greene won the Assistant Coach of the Year award for seven straight seasons.
Since 2015, he has been named the Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year 15 times by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), earning the awards for numerous indoor and outdoor seasons for both the men’s and women’s side of competition. In addition, Greene has won the Atlantic Region Cross Country Coach of the Year award from the USTFCCCA four times since 2018.
Prior to the NJCAA Indoor Championships, the Mustang men were ranked No. 12, but exceeded that mark with a 10th-place finish at the Championships.
Greene coached 10 athletes to qualification in nine different events for the NJCAA Championships. He also oversaw four different records that were broken throughout the 2023 indoor season. In addition, the Mustangs were the No. 1-ranked team in the Atlantic Region.

What a weekend, I am very proud of this team. There’s no group of guys and girls I’d rather coach during this season than these guys, they’re the best, they’re warriors, ultimate team players and most importantly they’re very dependable.
