The Toronto Raptors won the NBA finals for the first time in franchise history after beating the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 last night, (Thursday) at the Oracle Arena.

Their win was historic: Raptors are the first major Canadian sports team to win a championship in 26 years. Blue Jays and Canadiens both claimed victory in 1993 but since then no Canadian team has been so successful.

Golden State Warriors gave it their all, even with the loss of Klay Thompson late in the game but in the end, Raptors prevailed 114 – 110.

The Toronto Raptors win concludes a monumental run for the team.

Kawhi Leonard was announced as the 2019 Bill Russell NBAFinals MVP. He is just the 2nd player to win Finals MVP with more than 1 team.
