Anguilla’s very own Mikiah Herbert Harrigan was named the Southeastern Conference, (SEC ) women’s basketball tournament Most Valuable Player.
Yesterday, the Gamecocks defeated Mississippi State 76-62 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Grenville in the SEC tournament championship. Playing forward, Mikiah starred with 15 points.
Gamecocks went undefeated in regular season 16-0 and 3-0 in the post season to capture their fifth consecutive title in six years.
Herbert Harrigan had 15 points to lead four Gamecocks in double figures Sunday.
She averaged 14.7 points in USC’s three wins in Greenville. Added to that, she had six blocks, three of which came in the title game.
Her performances earned her a selection on the all tournament team.
Her teammates Ty Harris and Destanni Henderson, as well as Kentucky’s Rhyne Howard and Mississippi State’s Rickea Jackson were also selected.
