Leewards beat Canada by 49 runs – Boatswain awarded Man of The Match

The Leeward Island Hurricanes are now 5-2 after defeating Canada by 49 runs yesterday at Warner Park.

Electing to bat first, the Leewards scored 232 for nine off 50 overs. Devon Thomas top scored with 53.

Both Montcin Hodge and Kezron Archibald contributed 34 and 32* respectively.

Rayyan Pathan was the pick of the bowlers for team Canada with 4/52.

Fancying their chances, Canada were off to fast start as Pathan went after Berridge early. Despite the solid start, Canada lost wickets at regular intervals. Once Campbell picked up the wicket of Pathan caught at first slip by Kieran Powell for 44, the run rate slowed down.

With the Leewards balanced bowling attack, the seamers were most successful on the night. Canada were bowled out for 183 off of 43.5 overs.

Among the wickets were Boatswain, 3/37 and Archibald, 3/36. Sheeno Berridge bagged 2/50

Quinton Boatswain was presented with Man of the Match honours.

The Hurricanes won by 49 runs.
