Geoffrey Hanley attends graduations in Taiwan, congratulates all graduates

Basseterre, St. Kitts, 25 June, 2018 – The successes of the St. Kitts and Nevis students graduating from universities in Taiwan, were celebrated by Mr. Geoffrey Hanley, who travelled to Asia to attend their graduation ceremonies and also congratulated each graduate.

While in Taiwan, Mr. Hanley and his wife, Adaeze Hanley, not only attended his son’s, Addea Brunder graduation, but those of two other students.

Addea, who left St. Kitts and Nevis in 2013, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Travel and Tourism Management from Ming Chuan University.

Mr. Hanley also attended the ceremonies, of two other Kittitians, Police Inspector Mr. Alrick Edwards and Mr. Donya L. Francis.

Inspector Edwards completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Police Administration at the Central Police University, gaining expertise in weapon training which included raids, weapon maintenance; disassemble and reassemble of firearms, shot range determination and ballistics.

Mr. Edwards was also a star judo fighter in his school and competed in many competitions.

Mr. Francis graduated from Taipei Medical University with a Master of Science degree in Global Health and Development.

This is his second degree from Taiwan having graduated from Ming Chuan University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Mr. Hanley also sent messages and telephoned other graduates to congratulate them on their accomplishments.

“I want to congratulate all of our young scholars who have journeyed for many miles and can now smile knowing that they have accomplished what they went out there to do,” said Mr. Hanley.

He added, “Our students in Taiwan continue to make our Federation proud. Some of them are even popular among their peers. They are doing well not only academically but also in showcasing our country to the people of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and we must congratulate them.”

Close to fifteen students graduated from universities in Taiwan in various disciplines.
