Four St. Kitts and Nevis match officials on Sunday, received their badges as new FIFA match officials for 2023. They received their badges during halftime of President’s Cup match at the Warner Park.
The match officials are:
Shandor Wilkinson
Sanchez Bass
Reginald Gumbs
Jaden Rouse
Malcom Ramsey, Head of the SKNFA Referee Department, lauded this milestone in St. Kitts and Nevis football. “It is indeed a great moment to be a part of refereeing in St. Kitts and Nevis. Lots have been happening over the past several years. But most importantly, we want to say commendations to the four brand new match officials who received their badges on Sunday evening at halftime in the President’s Cup,” Ramsey said. “That was again another proud moment for St. Kitts and Nevis. And also, we want to take this opportunity to say congratulations to those who have already received appointment for 2023. Speaks volume.”
He further disclosed that other match officials from St. Kitts and Nevis, namely: Mr. Tristley Bassue and Mr. Hakeem Harvey will be going this week to Guatemala for a refereeing seminar and academy respectively. He added that three of the newly appointed match officials: Sanchez Bass, Jaden Rouse and Reginald Gumbs have been selected to officiate U-17 tournament.
“So that is another good sign. And while we’re speaking of that, some new persons will be featured in the Premier League this year, who worked fourth official primarily for most of the last season. And so again, opportunities opened up on the international stage for those who are international and then the local persons get another opportunity. So indeed, we are happy to be a part of refereeing here in St. Kitts and Nevis, and we just want to take the opportunity to encourage anybody who have some interest in being a match official, to contact us. You can send an email to the [email protected],” he added. Those who received their badges on Sunday are among 11 match officials from St. Kitts and Nevis who have been appointed FIFA match officials for 2023.
