An unfortunate incident of larceny which occurred at the Players Pavillion in Warner Park caused a late start to the fourth round encounter between Leeward Islands Hurricanes and the Barbados Pride.
The match which was officially due to get started on Thursday 6th February 2019 had to be delayed by a day. After players and officials arrived at the premises on Thursday, they observed that a thief or thieves broke into the facility and made off with property belonging to the Barbados team. This led to the Police being called in to carry out investigations.
The Police confirmed that several items from the locker room being used by the Barbados team were stolen.
One person is in custody assisting with investigations.
This unfortunate mishap made it impossible for the Barbados team to be in the frame of mind to play however after the management of the Barbados and Leewards teams were consulted by the authorities it was agreed that the match would get on the way one day later.
In a statement to the media, Cricket West stated that:
Due to an overnight break-in at the players pavilion at Warner Park, St. Kitts, the scheduled start of the fourth round match of the West Indies Championship on Thursday has been delayed by one day.

The CWI statement further informed that the hosts:
Leeward Islands Hurricanes and the St. Kitts Cricket Association have confirmed to Cricket West Indies that local police are investigating the matter and that all necessary steps are being taken to mitigate against such a situation recurring
The game bowled off yesterday, Friday 7th February at 10:00 a.m.
