Charlestown, Nevis — It has been in excess of three weeks that commuters have had to swerve while driving on the island Main Road between Morning Star and Church Ground.
Due to works carried out by the Nevis Water Department, the road was dug up and new water pipes installed. Since completion, the road was partly resurfaced and commuters are frustrated with the efforts since it’s uneven.
“This is just ridiculous now, I swear I cuss everytime” said one commuter who told SKN PULSE MEDIA that she sometimes drive in the middle of the road just to avoid the uneven left side of the said road when heading into town. Another said, “man after two days that should a done fix but to ignore such an unsafe piece of the island road makes you wonder.”
“The least they can do is to put up a sign saying Uneven Surface Ahead”

Drivers should exercise caution: Uneven and bumpy road surfaces can cause loads to shift and make motorcyclist lose their balance.
According to information provided by a specialist, the bumps can use up the maximum travel of your suspension which could cause damage to your vehicle, or could bump you off the road. A wet surface makes it even more dangerous as it presents the possibility of oversteering or understeering.
