Charlestown, Nevis, (SKN PULSE) – Four crowns in Two Years: History was created last evening, (Thursday 3rd, July) when Gingerlander, Delroy ‘Delly Ranks’ Huggins was crowned Groovy and Power Soca Monarch for the second consecutive year.
Having created history last year, Delly’s performances have earned him yet another spot in the history books of culturama as he is now the only artiste to have won the Culturama Soca Monarch competition back to back.
The golden voice of Delly Ranks had patrons jamming to his competition pieces, “Pan Jam” and “Wuk It”. His victory however didn’t come easy, fierce competition from the likes of Woodis & Selecta Mad, Eto Dan & Kezzy, X-Man, Daddy Tustee and others kept the humble Delly in his element.
At the end of the night, Delly edged X-Man by a point in the Groovy Segment, (411). Veteran artist X-man placed first runner up in the Groovy Segment, (410). First timers Eto Dan and Kezzy created quite a stir with their hit song ‘Groove Me’ which propelled them to 2nd runner up, (397).
The newly crowned Power Monarch had a 10 point margin of victory in the power segment, (425). Selecta Mad & Woodis were his closest competitors with their popular hit song ‘Wootop Tv’, (415). Eto Dan and Kezzy followed closely behind for the second position as they amassed 397 points.
