Basseterre: St. Kitts, Saturday, March 21, 2026: In celebration of Francophonie Week 2026, the Alliance Française de St. Kitts & Nevis welcomed 25 Grade 6 students from Dr. William Connor Primary School for a special cultural session designed to immerse young learners in French language and culture on Friday, March 20.
The engaging program included the screening of a French children’s film, allowing students to enjoy storytelling in a new language, and a variety of French snacks, adding a delicious cultural experience to the day.
Ms. Lucille Caulliez, Director, Alliance Française, said the celebration encourages students to explore the global richness of the French language and its opportunities.
‘What we expect from the celebration is to show that French is not only about grammar and vocabulary, but it is also about a rich culture that is not only from France, but from many countries all over the world. Children can discover the diversity and see the benefits of learning French because French can create a lot of academic opportunities, career opportunities, and connect people and build bridges with people in different communities in the world.’
Through activities like these, the Alliance Française aims to foster language learning, stimulate creativity, and promote cultural openness among the youth of St. Kitts & Nevis, helping them connect with the Francophone world in meaningful and enjoyable ways.
