Basseterre, St. Kitts — March 23, 2026 – Two young sailors from St. Kitts and Nevis delivered remarkable performances at the Budget Marine 23rd ILCA & 8th Optimist Open Regatta in Falmouth Harbour, Antigua, putting the federation firmly on the regional sailing map.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association is proud to announce their achievements:
Abhijith Srinivasan placed 3rd in the ILCA 4.7 class, marking a historic milestone as the first ILCA sailor from St. Kitts and Nevis to reach a regional podium. Abhijith represents the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center.
Greyson Burrell earned 1st place in the Optimist Advanced fleet, continuing his strong performances on the regional circuit and demonstrating the strength of youth sailing development in St. Kitts and Nevis. Greyson represents the St. Kitts Yacht Club.
Competing against a talented field of regional sailors, both athletes showed determination, skill, and composure on the water. Their results highlight both individual excellence and the growing strength of youth and the dedication of the local clubs that nurture young talent.
“This achievement is significant for St. Kitts and Nevis sailing,” representatives of the St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association noted. “Having both sailors reach the podium at a regional event—and marking our first regional ILCA podium—shows the progress of our program and the bright future ahead for our athletes.”

The association extends congratulations to the sailors, their families, coaches, and supporting clubs whose continued commitment makes milestones like this possible. Special recognition is also given to the Antigua Yacht Club and event manager Karl James, MBE, for organizing another successful regatta.
As sailing continues to grow across the federation, performances like these inspire more young people to get involved in the sport and represent St. Kitts and Nevis proudly on the regional stage.
