Young Tuckett hits half-century for Leewards in losing effort

    SKN PULSE – The Leeward Islands and Barbados encounter at 3W’s Oval saw Barbados getting the better of the Leeward Islands by some 35 runs. Young Clarke, (Barbados)-76 and Carlon Tuckett, (Leewards)-54 were the two outstanding players for their respective teams as they both scored half centuries.

    Having loss the toss, Barbados was sent in to bat. They racked up 192/7 off of their alloted 50 overs. Young Clarke, who featured in a 70 run-partnership stroked 76 off of 114 deliveries while his partner at the time, Jacob Bethell scored 29. 

    Kenny Sutton and Jaylen Francis were the pick of the bowlers for the Leewards. They both bagged two wickets each.

    The aggressive start to the innings by the Leewards was a clear indication that they were confident of reaching their target. An impressive stance between Tuckett and Amurdan, produced 69 runs from just 86 deliveries. However, both were dismissed in short order: Tuckett scored 54 off 90 balls while Amurdan made 15 off 34 deliveries. 

    The fall of those two wickets signalled the start of a Leewards Islands collapse. They failed to reach their target after losing 7 wickets for 44 runs, Leewards were all out for 157 in 44 overs.  

    According to reports out of Barbados, young Clarke engineered the Leeward Islands collapse with a magnificent spell. He bagged 6 wickets for 28 runs.  

    Barbados won by 35 runs.
