SKN PULSE – Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy is of the view that the World XI tour of Pakistan is more important than any of the players visiting.
Pakistan has not had a major team tour to the country since gunmen attacked a bus carrying members of a Sri Lanka team in Lahore in 2009.
The World XI, which includes two West Indian Players Samuel Badree and Darren Sammy. This tour shall be should be followed by Sri Lanka visiting to play a Twenty20 International in Lahore on October 29.
That game will be predicated on positive reports regarding accurate security for the players.
The World XI are braving a three-match T20 tour, with Pakistan making the trek for the second time, after agreeing to play in the Pakistan Super League final in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
“Everyone is here and they realize that they are part of a greater cause, and they have accepted that they are part of something more important than just themselves,” said Sammy.
“I believe Sri Lanka and the West Indies are also planning to travel to Pakistan, and if the government, the security agencies and cricket authorities there can keep the momentum going, it won’t be long before we have full-fledged tours there,” he said.
