An elderly woman died in a tragic residential fire in the wee hours of Monday morning, August 21, 2023 at Wades Garden.
The Fire and Rescue Services and the Police responded to a report of a residential fire and met a dwelling house engulfed in flames. The fire was eventually extinguished by the Fire and Rescue Services and the charred remains of 91 yr old Devorita Weekes was found in the living room.
Weekes was pronounced dead by the District Medical Doctor, Dr. Akin Oduntan.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
