A boat was found drifting off Nevis with 19 dead people on board, the Police said Wednesday.
According to the authorities, shortly before midday, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defense Coast Guard responded to a report of a drifting boat off the coast of Nevis.
The vessel was towed to St. Kitts where further examination occurred and an investigation launched.
The identification documents found on the boat suggest the deceased may be from Mali, West Africa.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Cromwell Henry, the bodies were severely decomposed.
Investigations are ongoing.
This marks the second such incident in recent weeks in the region.
Meanwhile, reports from Trinidad indicate that a similar discovery was made there a few days ago.
