Basseterre, St. Kitts – The St. Christopher National Trust and National Museum earlier this morning, (Saturday 30 April) posted a social media update to inform the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis that National Museum was broken into last night.
According to the social media post, no artifacts were stolen. However, the thieves ransacked desks, stole a laptop and broke into the donation box.
Director of visitor experience for the St. Christopher National Trust, Toni Fredrick commented through social media that “they got my personal laptop with my research for a new exhibit I was to start mounting today. Why a museum?! They used our tool box after they got in! They broke into my office at the back of the museum, and removed the toolbox from a cabinet and came back out and broke into the donation box.”
Anyone with information or who saw any suspicious activity at the old Treasury building overnight, is being asked to call the police at 869-465-2241 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-8477 (tips).
