SKN PULSE – A spectacular performance by the Patriots and a sensational display by Evin Lewis ensured Patriots secured the second spot in the final table standings.
Lewis, the young Trinidadian opener fired a blistering 97 off 32 balls in a 10-wicket win for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Sunday has been the man of action in the team.
The left handed Lewis plundered 11 sixes and six fours. The supportive crowd on hand witnessed ball after ball clearing the boundary ropes as the Patriots easily overhauled the Trident’s total of 128 for 9 in just seven overs.
Captain Gayle played a supporting role at the other end, he added 22 for 14. Unfortunately, Lewis who seemed poised to hit a century saw the innings end with a no ball from the Tridents captain, Kieron Pollard.
The win moved the Patriots to 13 points and into second place. They are slated to play the Trinbago Knight Riders while the Jamaica Tallawahs who finish third would face off with the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Patriots all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite had his best bowling display of the tournament after claiming 4 for 15 to constantly stifle any momentum the Tridents badly needed to gather.
Needing to win by a huge margin over the Patriots to advance to the next round, the Tridents failed to get going as partnerships never materialized.
Evin Lewis walked away with Man of the Match honoura for his outstanding knock of 97 not out off just 32 balls with 6 fours and 11 sixes.
