Back To Back – The Sweetest Band in the world, Small Axe Band has been crowned the 2018-2019 Road March winners for the second consective year.
With 78.43 points their hit song, ‘Get Jiggy Wid It’ was the most played at the judging points.
With the win, Small Axe Band International has proven their worth without former band member, ‘Ras Kelly’ who left the band earlier in the year.
Being that winning Road March is a big thing for supporters and some of the bands, Small Axe Band in essence has delivered for their loyal fans.
A new criteria was used to judge the Road March this year. This meant that unlike previous years when it was judged to include Last Lap, for Sugar Mas 47 – judging was done just for J’Ouvert. Click for Judging criteria.
The grand prize for Road March is $12, 500 while 1st, 2nd and and 3rd runners up will receive $8000, $3000 and $1000 respectively.
Along with the Road March results, winners for the Small J’Ouvert Troupes, Large J’Ouvert Troupes and Individual Mas Player were announced.
Jab Jab which was introduced to the carnival for the first time won the top prize for the Small Troupes category while Red Devils won in the Largest Troupe Category.
Jermaine Belgrove won the Best Individual Mas Player.

Street activities continue on Mon. Dec 31 with Junior Carnival then the Grand Carnival Parade on Tues. Jan 1 beginning at midday from the Patsy Allers Park.
Sugar Mas 47 concludes with Last Lap on Wed. Jan 2.
