Basseterre, St. Kitts, 8th June, 2018 (SKN PULSE MEDIA) – Kittitians, Nevisians and Non-Nationals will be able to renew their drivers license online before the end of June, 2018.
This new initiative was announced by Comptroller of the St. Kitts and Nevis Inland Revenue Department, Edward Gift on the June 6th edition of ‘Working for You’.
According to the comptroller, the process is designed to be easy yet thorough. Gift informed listeners, “Once there is a renewal, they can complete their entire process online where they upload their documents for their driver’s license, pay their fee and then come to the Inland Revenue Department to collect the driver’s license card upon presentation of certain information for verification purposes.”
Gift explained “this is not something that we have taken lightly” as the note was taken of security issues that could arise such as forged documents.
It was also revealed that the Inland Revenue Department would like to have a process where they could do certain verification with other state agencies that would make the process much easier when they move online. This Gift stated would allow the department to have “automatic validation of information from whether it’s social security or even the vehicle inspection sites that they have around the Federation.”
It is anticipated that vehicle registration will be online before the end of 2018. Currently, Property Tax and Business Taxes could be filed and payed online via www.sknird.com through the epayment and e-filing protocols.
