Basseterre, St. Kitts — Head Coach of the St. Kitts and Nevis Senior Men’s National Team, Marcelo Serrano, has commended his players for their determination and unity following a 4-2 victory over the Solomon Islands in the third-place playoff of the FIFA Series 2026 in Indonesia.
Serrano praised the team’s commitment throughout the tournament, highlighting the pride and passion shown by both locally-based and overseas players.
“I wanted to congratulate the players… they came and they fought with pride, with love for the country and for the flag,” Serrano said.
The head coach emphasized the strong work ethic within the squad and the importance of maintaining national pride.
“The players from the island, they work very hard, and the players from overseas always come respecting the flag. That is something we continue to demand and build on.”
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Serrano pointed to the valuable experience gained against higher-ranked opponents, particularly in their match against Indonesia.
“We had players from the island competing against players in the Bundesliga, and they did a good job. That experience is very important for our development.”
He also highlighted the significance of the team’s victory over the Solomon Islands, noting the challenge of scoring four goals at the international level.
“We came strong, with humbleness, but played hard for the fans. Scoring four goals against a national team is not easy, and the players executed well.”
Serrano described the FIFA Series camp as a positive step forward for the programme, citing the strong chemistry and collaboration among the players.
“It was a very good camp. The players fought together and worked well together, and that is key for our progress.”
Looking ahead, the coach called on supporters to continue backing the national team as it builds toward future success.
“We are building something strong. It takes time to build, but we are laying a solid foundation. With continued support, this team can reach greater heights.”
The St. Kitts and Nevis Senior Men’s National Team will now look to build on this momentum as they continue their international campaign.
