(EMU) – St. Kitts, December 4, 2018: The Saddlers Secondary Schools is celebrating the outstanding performance of a team of students and teachers at the inaugural hosting of Math War.
During the prize giving ceremony held at the Advanced Vocational Education Centre (AVEC) on Monday 3rd December, it was announced that the Saddlers Secondary accumulated 5860 points at the end of the three (3) zonal competitions which commenced on November 16th.
Gingerland Secondary School placed 2nd and Washington Archibald High School was adjudged the 3rd place winner.
According to Coordinator of the Learning Support Department, Nicole Ward Morris, “Mathematics has been one of the most difficult subjects for our students, and I think it is because of fear.” She continued, “We are making students more excited about Mathematics. We intend to do this (competition) every first term in each school year.”
Learning support classes participate in Math War. Its purpose is to spur interest in mathematics and develop comradery and talent through exciting competition.
It is a series of competitions sponsored by the Ministry of Education and various private stakeholders within the Federation.
