St. Kitts and Nevis (SKNP): Gun violence continues to instill fear in citizens as robberies and murder has been the order of the day for the week.
Arlene, the wife of a well known businessman has died from her injuries while he is reportedly in critical condition. The couple were shot during an armed robbery on Friday night in the Wellington Road area. SKN PULSE has learned that Arlene Liburd, who is said to have sustained gunshot wounds to her legs and stomach, died later at the JNF Hospital.
Mr. Liburd – a former police officer – is reported to have been shot in his legs and side.
While the Police Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the robbery which occurred sometime around 7:30 pm in the Horsford Shopping Complex Friday night; reports indicate that one or more assailants opened fire on the owner of Reliable Security Seymour Liburd and Mrs Liburd when they were making a deposit at the Royal Bank branch, for a nearby company.
According to Winnfm, Commander for District A Superintendent Cromwell Henry informed the media house on Saturday Morning that Mrs. Liburd had passed away.
A release from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police states that the police is appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and may have seen the incident to come forward with any information they may have.
