Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 3, 2018 – Three of the four prison officers alleged to be involved in the beating of an inmate inside Her Majesty’s Prison last month are resisting pressure on them to resign from their posts.
WINNFM first reported that the three prison officers involved in the beating are also facing criminal charges.
The prison officers administered a severe beating on the male inmate while he was shackled.
New information has now emerged that the inmate was not sodomized with the broomstick as first reported.
“What really happened is that the beating was so severe, that the inmate stooled himself and a dirty mop was used to clean him while he was on the ground. That action created the impression that a broomstick was used to sodomized him,” the source said.
The inmate, who is serving a three-year prison term for larceny, was shackled and beaten by three prison officers on or about March 21 in the area of the wash rooms. He was admitted to the J. N. France General Hospital for his injuries and discharged on March 24.
