(EMU) – St. Kitts, July 12, 2017: “This is an opportunity for us to reflect, share best practices and ideas,” announced Vincent Hodge, Permanent Secretary, in the Ministry of Education, as he addressed principals at the opening of the 2017 Primary School Principals Roundtable.
Recognizing the need to develop a plan for future action and policy strategies, the Ministry of Education met with all Primary School Principals on St. Kitts on Tuesday 11th July at the Bird Rock Beach Hotel’s conference room.
“Raise the bar, don’t accept what has been ongoing throughout the past years, sit down with your staff and formulate a plan for the academic year, and work towards ensuring that all the goals are met.” Minister Richards urged the principals at the meeting. He advised them to use the resources that are available to them for support. “Network with each other, get ideas from persons within the community and teachers, and see what you can do to improve the general performance at your institution.”
Presenters were on hand to give detailed practices and strategies around the theme ‘Principals Taking Charge,’ some topics discussed were: Language Instructional Block, Professional Development Nuggets and Effective School Leadership through Team Building.
The discussion comes on the heels of the closure of a vigorous and unforgettable 2017 academic year. The 2017/2018 academic year begins on September 4th 2017.
