SKN PULSE – The Leeward Islands are off to a good start in the WICB Regional Super50 competiton as they secured their second win of the tournament. Bonner, Powell and Joseph starred in the victory over the young West Indies Junior team.

Leewards captain and former West Indies batsman, Kieran Powell guided his team to victory with a well played 105 off 122 balls. His first maiden List A century anchored the Leewards against the West Indies junior side who were able to restrict the Leeward Islands for 245.

Wicketkeeper Jahmar Hamilton and Powell teamed up for a 65 run partnership that boosted the Hurricanes. The fall of the fifth wicket however saw a collapse in the batting as the last six wickets fell for a mere 44 runs. Keemo Paul having picked up the wicket of Kieran Powell finished with 4 wickets for 42 runs.

In reply, the West Indies Junior side found themselves in a spot of bother as Joseph, Bonner and Cooper proved to be too much for the U19 players as they quickly stumbled.

The West Indies U-19 were bowled out for 157 as Nkrumah Bonner took 3 for 30 while Joseph and Cooper picked up two wickets respectively to lead the way for the Leewards in the field. Four batsmen were dismissed without scoring in the innings as West Indies U-19 struggled to mount a challenge though Shamar Springer top scored with 54 off 67 balls.

The result earned the Leewards four (4) points and a top spot in the table standings.
