Nevisian Kaliyah Jones, a member of the Monroe University women’s indoor track and field team set a new school record in the 300m at the Garden State Invitational which was held on Friday 21 February in New York.
Freshman Kaliyah Jones Sets New Record
Jones stopped the clock at 40.46s, shattering the previous 11 year record held by Mustang Teena Mobley (43.52) set back in 2014.
Jones Etched her name in Monroe’s athletic History books.
This is a huge feat for Jones, as she is only in her first year at Monroe University. Jones name is now etched in the record books at Monroe for the 300m.
Jones’s record-breaking performance will be one she shall remember for a long time, (new record & personal best). Her time ranked second from a field of 15 athletes.
Jones Personal Best at Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational
So far, Jones has PBs in the 300m, 400m, 500m and the 200m. Just last week at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Jones improved her 400m time, stopping the clock at 57.22s. Her previous best was 1:00.41s.
Later this month, Jones will compete at the Indoor Championships in the 400m, 600m and the 4x400m. The Indoor Championships will be held in Lubbock, TX, from March 7th-9th, 2025.
