Guyana continues to mourn…….

More bodies have been recovered from the MV Barima tragedy, increasing the total number of victims recovered to 72, according to Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips.
The authorities have confirmed that 65 of the 72 recovered bodies have been positively identified by their families.
Search and recovery operations remain ongoing, with a coordinated multi-agency effort involving 22 assets, including 19 vessels and three aircraft, continuing the mission.

The MV Barima capsized late Saturday (Jul. 18) while travelling to Region One with what was initially believed to be 113 registered passengers on board. Officials have estimated that as many as 180 passengers may have been on the vessel.
