It has become very evident that major changes are required within the administrative structure of the Leeward Islands Cricket Board.
There seems to be a lack of enthusiasm from the President and his executive which seemingly has cemented itself in the poor organization of tournaments and the bias selection of teams.
The Leeward Islands Cricket Board only released its squad on Wednesday 08th April 2026, for a tournament that will take place on Sunday 12th April 2026.

When one looks at the composition of the team, it becomes obvious that the selection policy leaves alot to be desired. Carlon Bowen-Tuckett, the young wicketkeeper/batsman, who was a standout for the West Indies Cricket Academy in the 4-day regional tournament last year and who had a batting average of 40+, wasn’t selected in the 13 man squad. One is left to wonder what criteria did the selectors use to select the team.
We can also look at the shortened Leeward Island tournaments that were held for the last of couple of years and realize that even though some players performed well they still weren’t able to gain selection.
I am therefore of the view that the various Cricket Associations need to elect individuals to the Leeward Islands Cricket Board Executive who are committed to advance its players and by extension the game of cricket.
The Leewards will play against Trinidad and Tobago Knight Riders at the start of the regional 4-day tournament in Antigua.
