St Kitts and Nevis won its first medal of the CARIFTA Games on the final day of competition. Middle distance athlete, Kymarni Newton, won bronze in the Boys U17 800m.
Newton clocked 1:55.34 to finish third, setting a new personal best in the process. His time is a new national record in the Under-18 category.
Newton’s previous best was 1:58.25.

The event was won by Nahjah Wyatte of St. Maarten in a time of 1:53.26. Jamaica’s Markland Williams took second place in a time of 1:53.60.

Najeeb Kelly of Unstoppable SKN finished fifth with a new personal best of 1:59.74.
