Charlestown, Nevis (SKNP) – In preparation for the 43rd anniversary of Culturama, the Culturama Committe headed by the Chairman held a Press Conference at the Social Security Conference Room on Wednesday Morning, (12th April) at 10.00 (am). The Committee named former member of the Daryl Dore Quadrille Dance Group, Mr. Joseph Claxton as the 2017 Culturama Patron.
According to the new Chairman of Culturama, Mr. Antonio Liburd, the Committee conducted an extensive search across the various areas of Culture on the island before selecting Mr. Joseph “Joe” Claxton, a folklore dancer.
Claxton who hails from Bath Village was selected for his contribution and commitment to the development of Folklore Culture on the island of Nevis.
The avid folklore dancer has represented Nevis at CARIFESTA on two occasions.
As Patron for Culturama 2017, it is expected that Mr. Claxton would be present at all Culturama activities and that he would be the Grand Marshall leading the 2017 Cultural Street Parade which will be held on August 8th.
The official launch of Culturama is slated for July 27, 2017.
