Kingston, Jamaica – The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has
announced a formidable team to represent the nation at the upcoming CARIFTA Games,
scheduled for April 4–6, 2026 in St George’s, Grenada.
A total of 80 athletes and 14 officials will travel to Grenada as Jamaica seeks to reaffirm its dominance and continue its rich legacy in one of the Caribbean’s premier junior track and field competitions and continue its preparation towards the World U20 Championships in August later this year.
Leading the team is World Under-20 bronze medallist Shanoya Douglas, who is expected to contest the sprint double and will be one of Jamaica’s key medal prospects. Also generating significant excitement is the in-form Riquelme Reid, whose outstanding performances this season have positioned him as a strong contender in the Boys’ 100 metres.
The team will be guided by Technical Leader David Riley, a respected member of the World Athletics Coaches Commission. Riley brings a wealth of experience and technical expertise to the squad as Jamaica prepares to face strong regional competition.
Jamaica enters the championships with high expectations, aiming to build on its tradition of excellence at the CARIFTA Games, while also providing a platform for the continued
development of the region’s most promising young athletes.
The CARIFTA Games continues to serve as an important building block for junior athletes
aspiring to transition to senior international competition, and Jamaica’s participation
underscores its ongoing commitment to athletic development and regional sporting excellence.
The team is scheduled to depart the island on April 2nd ahead of the championships and will compete across a full slate of track and field events during the three-day meet.
