17-year-old Jahzara Claxton is the new record holder of the National Junior Javelin record.

Claxton first broke the record at the Interschool Championships held in March 2023 with a throw of 40.11m then later broke her own record with a throw of 41.36m.

She accomplished this feat while competing in the U20 Open Women’s Heptathlon at the 50th Carifta Games currently being held in the Bahamas.

The previous record stood for 14 years and was held by the late Tesril Nisbett. Nisbett threw 39.08m back in 2009.
