Charlestown, Nevis – The unplanned construction at the Gingerland Secondary School, the Charlestown Secondary School and the Gingerland Pre-School has been a hot topic among the Nevisian populace.
The main opposition party, the Nevis Reformation Party has been critical of the government for the timing of such upgrades.
Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Joseph Parry has remarked, ” I am taken aback by the state of construction”.
In his estimation, the project at the Gingerland Secondary School has atleast six more weeks until completion. According to the Honourable gentlemen, ‘If they were serious it would of started late in June”.
Instead, the project started in July, smack in the heart of the hurricane season. With these delays, our students and teachers face an uphill battle.
The opposition MP, alluded to the fact that “this term is the hardest working term and a term that most work is done”. Since much isn’t done in the sports term and the third term is used primarily for review.
According to Parry, the timing of the construction undertaken in the Gingerland area highlights poor planning and politicking at best by the Amory led Nevis Island Government.
